  • Estimator/Project Manager – Earthwork

    The Earthwork Estimator/Project Manager position will be responsible for seeking, securing, and managing projects that align with the company’s strategic goals.  This position will report to the Operations Officer.

    This position will have direct client contact and therefore requires solid communication skills.  Each day, this position would seek out potential project leads, complete comprehensive estimates, manage/coordinate the project work as needed, ensure project budget and timelines and effectively communicate internally and externally. The position will also require foresight to forecast material, labor and equipment for the next stage of the project.  


    Qualifications/Responsibilities:

    • 5+ years experience performing excavation estimating/project management
    • Positive – “can do” attitude
    • Ability to quickly interpret project plans and specifications
    • Prepare and solicit subcontractor and vendor material quotes
    • Prepare quantities as needed for the project
    • Assemble a final project cost and documentation to owner
    • Upon project award, procure materials and generate job start up
    • Knowledge of most heavy earthwork equipment
    • Valid driver’s license 
    • Experience supporting field safety
    • Assist in setting project production goals
    • Understanding of basic job cost accounting methods and reporting
    • Managing/scheduling deliveries, permits, meetings, etc.
    • Physical ability to work in an office setting, drive to project sites, deliver small materials, maneuver through uneven terrain.
    • Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. Peak season hours will vary.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Ashwill Companies is searching for our next leader in our excavation division.  An excavation estimator/project manager who has experience in commercial, light commercial and utilities, adapts well in a fast-paced environment, and has a high aptitude in facilitating personality styles.


  • Concrete Operations Supervisor

    The Supervisor manages all aspects of the concrete division operations.  Generates bidding opportunities through their network of customers as well as current Ashwill clients are satisfied.  Coordinates with estimating/project management to assure workload and the right mix of projects are being secured.  The crew members, so work is completed in a safe, orderly and cost-effective fashion. And so on.  This position reports to the President.  When required, this position may operate equipment and/or perform production activities to execute the work. As a Concrete Operations Supervisor, you are the face of our company to clients, other contractors and our crew. The position will also require foresight to forecast material, labor and equipment for the next stages of the project.  The Supervisor will guide and mentor crew members.


    Qualifications:

    • 15+ years experience in the commercial concrete industry
    • Proven track record of positive employee feedback and retention – references may be required
    • Ability to network with current customers as well as gain/attract new customers
    • Ability to manage multiple foundation crews (between 3 and 5)
    • Maintains a network of professional contacts to attract qualified workers
    • Ability to read/manage project plans and specifications
    • Valid commercial driver’s license 
    • Experience operating skid steer and off-road forklifts
    • Experience managing crew safety – conducting weekly crew training, managing attendance, etc.
    • Ability to set and achieve project production goals
    • Strength in strategic planning for the division.  Short- and long-term goal setting with detailed incremental steps to achieve the goals
    • Background with layout – ability to teach others
    • Experience with managing all personality styles, appreciating employee workloads/contributions, training through example and understanding, etc.
    • Understanding of the entire business, the intricate relationship between office and field, etc.
